- Ice Surface: Cross ice, consistent with the Long Term Player Development Model by Sport Canada, adopted by Hockey Canada and Hockey Manitoba. This approach focuses on optimal skill development and maximum fun!
Requirements:
- Equipment: Helmet with mask, neck protector, gloves, shin pads, elbow pads and hockey stick.
- Insurance: Individual accident/injury insurance is encouraged.
- Waiver: Download and complete the Hit the Ice Waiver and bring it to the first class.
- Helmet: Everyone on the ice MUST wear a helmet.
Payment and Registration:
- Eligibility: Open to kids not registered in a Hockey MB or Ringette MB program.
- Payments: Installment or postdated payments accepted.

Level 1
Beginner Skating Class for Kids
Is your child eager to learn how to skate? Join our beginner skating class, designed especially for brand new skaters!
Program Details:
- Balance and Posture: Foundational skills for safe and effective skating.
- Falling and Getting Up: Essential techniques for beginners.
- Turning and Jumping: Basic movements to build confidence on the ice.
- Gliding on Two Feet: Smooth movement across the ice
- Age Group: Participants must be 3 years old by the beginning of the course. Children who are 3 or 4 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with basic skating ability.
Equipment Needed:
1. Skates: Ensure they fit well and are comfortable.
2. Warm Clothing: Ski pants, jacket, mitts or gloves to stay warm on the ice.
3. Helmet: A CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approved helmet is required for both the parent and the child.

Level 2
Level 2 Skating Class for Kids
Ready to take your child's skating skills to the next level? Our Level 2 skating class is perfect for those who have either completed Level 1 or can stand and move forward independently on the ice. Prerequisites: Completion of Level 1 or ability to stand and move forward independently on the ice.
Program Details:
- Forward Gliding: Building on basic movement skills.
- Backward Skating: Introducing new directions and balance challenges.
- Stopping Techniques: Learning how to stop safely and effectively.
- Age Group: Participants must be 3 years old by the beginning of the course.
Equipment Needed:
1. Skates: Ensure they fit well and are comfortable.
2. Warm Clothing: Ski pants, jacket, mitts or gloves to stay warm on the ice.
3. Helmet: A CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approved helmet is required for the child.
Get ready for a fun and skill-building experience on the ice!

There are many benefits to using Urban Poles, including balance (always have two points of contact which decreases chances of falling), pain relief (poles let you offload weight from hips and knees), core strengthening, posture (strengthen your arms and back) and cardio fitness (energizing activity)! Walking indoors or outdoors using walking poles. Indoor walkers must wear clean indoor shoes. Outdoor walkers will plan a route together. Poles are available to borrow if you do not have your own.
