- Babysitting is a job with significant responsibility and the Babysitting Course helps prospective babysitters learn the skills they need. This course is for youth aged 11 to 15 years old. It teaches the new babysitter the necessary skills to provide care to children in a variety of situations. The course emphasizes safety rules, responding to emergencies, and developing leadership skills.

This Basketball Skills Camp is for children between the ages of 8 and 10, or grades 3 to 5! Coach Hank will work with the young players on learning the rules, developing their skills (shooting, dribbling, passing) and also teamwork skills. All skill levels are welcomed.

This Basketball Skills Camp is for children between the ages of 11 to 13, or grades 6 to 8! Playing team sports also encourages teammates to develop important life skills like sportsmanship. All skill levels are welcomed.

We will focus on how to evade an attack, and easy actions that can be taken to escape if you are attacked. We cover not only striking and kicking but also situational safety, how to use improvised weapons, and how to get someone off of you even if they have you pinned down on the ground. It is not a heavy duty punching and kicking workout, but rather a class that any person of any age and physical condition can take. During each class you will learn new concepts that you can apply immediately! You will learn how to maximize your energy, and be most effective when you do have to strike.

This class is for both brand new skaters (who are not confident with their balance on the ice), and beginner level skaters (children who are able to stand and move forward independently on the ice). Any child who is 3 or 4 year old would be preferred to be accompanied by a parent or guardian with basic skating ability. Volunteers are encouraged to be on the ice.
Instructors will separate the group according to skill level. New skaters will focus on their balance, posture, falling down and getting up, turning and jumping on the spot and gliding on two feet! Beginners with some experience on the ice will learn to glide forward, skate backwards, and learn stopping techniques.
Age: Participant must be 3 years old by the beginning of the course.
Equipment: Please bring skates and appropriate clothing to stay warm on the ice (ski pants, jacket, mitts or gloves). A CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approved helmet is required for both parent and the child.

Getting Started: Cross Country Skis!
Do you have a pair of Classic cross country skiis chillin' in the garage? Let's get you using them!
Cross country skiing is a fun and safe way to stay active and energized over the winter months. Get out and explore the winter on skis!
Join instructor Lori Hildebrandt, for a demonstration session on how to use your classic cross country skis. Learn the basics, including how to get up when you fall, diagonal stride, double poling, climbing and descending hills. You will have the opportunity to practice and receive feedback from Lori. The group will meet on the east side of the Breezy Bend Country Club parking lot.
Participants must have their own set of cross country skis to participate in this workshop.
This workshop will be canceled and rescheduled if there is not enough snow or if the conditions of the groomed trails are poor at the time of the event.

La Salle Indoor Walking Club
Take a break from the cold while still getting in those steps! This group will meet once per week in the gym of the Caisse Community Centre this Winter. Walking shoes must be non-marking indoor only shoes and walkers or any walking aids must be clean. You may bring a stroller, however the stroller must be wiped clean of water and mud and the child must stay in the stroller at all times.
There is a $2 fee each week. This can be paid to Joyce Murphy, on site each week.
There are many benefits to joining an indoor walking club:
1. An indoor space means a climate-controlled setting, not too hot, not too cold!
2. Increased safety - using an indoor track can be safer than walking outdoors, and no worries about speeding cars.
3. Close amenities, water and washroom nearby.
4. Social interaction - a walking club is an opportunity to socialize and make new friends!

La Salle Indoor Walking Club
Take a break from the cold while still getting in those steps! This group will meet once per week in the gym of the Caisse Community Centre this Winter. Walking shoes must be non-marking indoor only shoes and walkers or any walking aids must be clean. You may bring a stroller, however the stroller mus tbe wiped clean of water and mud and the child must stay in the stroller at all times.
There is a $2 fee each week. This can be paid to Joyce Murphy, on site each week.
There are many benefits to joining an indoor walking club:
1. An indoor space means a climate-controlled setting, not too hot, not too cold!

Nervous System reset with breathwork and movement
Breathing is the foundation of life, and the way we breathe can profoundly affect our physical and emotional well-being. Robin from PrairieGirlMountainSoul teaches Conscious Connected Breathwork, combined with gentle movement and a music sound healing experience. This combination provides a gentle, supportive approach to help individuals safely navigate their way out of frozen, immobilized states and release deeply held tension from the body.
Breathwork increases heart rate variability and helps you regulate your nervous system. Establishing a healthy connection to your nervous system, by learning and practicing this Conscious Connected Breathing will help to alleviate physical, mental and emotional symptoms related to hyper or hypo tension (a state which most of us are living in) and can reduce symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression and chronic stress.
During this 6 week program, these breathwork experiences will be combined with learning about the nervous system and encouraging breath and body awareness to promote overall wellness of the physical body as well as emotional and mental clarity.
Please bring water, a yoga mat and small blanket. Please wear loose fitting clothing that does not constrict breathing.

Designed to create evenness and balance within the mind and body. This meditative practice is for all levels.

Urban Pole Walking Club
Keep active in the snow this Winter by using Urban Poles, or take a break from the cold while still getting in those steps! This group will meet once per week this Winter and have the option of walking outdoors or indoors.
Indoor Walking: In the Headingley Community Centre auditorium, walking shoes must be non-marking indoor only shoes. Walkers or any walking aids must be clean. Urban Walking Poles are available for people walking indoors. You are encouraged to bring your own if you have a set.
Outdoor Walking: Group will start at the Headingley Community Centre and enjoy a stroll around the neighbourhood. Please wear shoes or boots with traction, and warm gear. Urban Poles are available to borrow for the walk. You are encouraged to bring your own if you have a set.
There are many benefits to using Urban Poles, including: balance (always have two points of contact which decreases chances of falling), pain relief (poles let you offload weight from hips and knees), core strengthening, posture (strengthen your arms and back) and cardio fitness (energizing activity)! Multisport programs are a way to introduce children to a variety of quality sports and activities. Participation in a range of sports at a young age supports physical literacy development. This foundation of skills, confidence and motivation encourages growth in other developmental areas. A new sport will be introduced every couple of weeks, by our Sport Leaders that will begin to set the groundwork for a lifelong love of sport and an ‘I can play anything!’ attitude. Please bring a nut-free, healthy snack.

SNOWGA is a four week program to prep for winter. It will encompass downhill, X-country and ski skating, regular skating and hockey.
Throughout the practice we will work on flexibility, strength, balance and core strength to improve your winter sport skills. Simplified breathing techniques enhance concentration and increase endurance on the course. Meditation is practiced to calm the mind, focus and visualize the desired sport outcome.

- Babysitting is a job with significant responsibility and the Babysitting Course helps prospective babysitters learn the skills they need. This course is for youth aged 11 to 15 years old. It teaches the new babysitter the necessary skills to provide care to children in a variety of situations. The course emphasizes safety rules, responding to emergencies, and developing leadership skills.

Do you have a pair of Classic cross country skiis chillin' in the garage? Let's get you using them!
Cross country skiing is a fun and safe way to stay active and energized over the winter months. Get out and explore the winter on skis!
Join instructor Lori Hildebrandt, for a demonstration session on how to use your classic cross country skis. Learn the basics, including how to get up when you fall, diagonal stride, double poling, climbing and descending hills. You will have the opportunity to practice and receive feedback from Lori. The group will meet on the east side of the Breezy Bend Country Club parking lot.
Participants must have their own set of cross country skis to participate in this workshop.
This workshop will be canceled and rescheduled if there is not enough snow or if the conditions of the groomed trails are poor at the time of the event.

Have fun decorating your own Spooky Shack made of delicious sugar cookies!
We’ll “paint” the walls and roof with edible paints and then assemble the house in class (or parents can choose to assemble it at home to make getting it home easier.)
If you assemble it at home, parents can even hide some candy inside or add candy to the rooftop like a gingerbread house.
Children/family members may share a house.
A parent must accompany every 3 children.

This 6 week course will support you in getting the most out of the Apple iPad. If you've taken the Introduction to the iPad course before, this course is the next step. Or if you are already comfortable using an iPad and are looking for more helpful tips and trick to better use your device, this course is for you!
In this program, your instructor will go over using social media, being aware of scams, threats and phishing, better understanding your settings, troubleshooting common device issues, and setting up iPad security. You can bring your own iPad and charger, a notepad and a pen.

Self-Care Workshop: Gua Sha to Release Facial Tension
Come and enjoy a relaxing hour of self-care and perhaps learn something new. As a self-care ritual, facial Gua Sha is effective at relieving muscular tension, improving microcirculation, tone and smooth skin, destress, depuff and balance energy.
This workshop will begin with gentle breath work, a guided mediation and a couple of warm up stretches. Your instructor Christine, will then guide you through a 20 minutes facial Gua Sha routine, demonstrating proper technique using Gua Sha tool, and sharing safety information.
The session will wrap up with a short body-positivity visualization and time for questions.
In this workshop each attendee receives a gift bag including a Gua Sha Stone and organic facial oil.
What to bring: It is recommended to bring a face cloth, and preferably come without any makeup on.

Our stories have great value. Our life-experiences whether sweet or challenging create a precious link to another generation.
This class will get you well on your way with ideas of how to create interesting, readable stories of your life's journey. We'll learn, share and encourage one another in November, and then you will have the winter months to continue writing. In March we'll meet again to proudly share our progress and possibly bind our finished product.
Ideally a computer and keyboard will make the process easier for you, but hand-writing is also acceptable.

We stand behind the chair & practice balance poses to strengthen the lower body, sit for core muscles work & end with relaxation in savasana from the chair or floor.

Nervous System reset with breathwork and movement
Breathing is the foundation of life, and the way we breathe can profoundly affect our physical and emotional well-being. Robin from PrairieGirlMountainSoul teaches Conscious Connected Breathwork, combined with gentle movement and a music sound healing experience. This combination provides a gentle, supportive approach to help individuals safely navigate their way out of frozen, immobilized states and release deeply held tension from the body.
Breathwork increases heart rate variability and helps you regulate your nervous system. Establishing a healthy connection to your nervous system, by learning and practicing this Conscious Connected Breathing will help to alleviate physical, mental and emotional symptoms related to hyper or hypo tension (a state which most of us are living in) and can reduce symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression and chronic stress.
During this 6 week program, these breathwork experiences will be combined with learning about the nervous system and encouraging breath and body awareness to promote overall wellness of the physical body as well as emotional and mental clarity.
Please bring water, a yoga mat and small blanket. Please wear loose fitting clothing that does not constrict breathing.

Restorative Yoga is a beginner friendly class. We will move the body through a series of longer held postures (primarily on the floor) supported by props such as yoga blocks and straps (provided). The intention of Restorative Yoga is to find greater ease in the body so you can enjoy life more fully by working towards relieving your pain, stiffness and related stress. We will target areas that commonly hold stress such as back, hips, shoulders and neck.

Snowga
SNOWGA is a four week program to prep for winter. It will encompass downhill, X-country and ski skating, regular skating and hockey.
Throughout the practice we will work on flexibility, strength, balance and core strength to improve your winter sport skills. Simplified breathing techniques enhance concentration and increase endurance on the course. Meditation is practiced to calm the mind, focus and visualize the desired sport outcome.
