Our Before and After School Recreation Program offers an enriching experience for children that combines physical activity, exploration of the great outdoors, and community engagement. Kids will participate in a variety of fun physical activities to keep them healthy and active, explore and play in natural settings to foster a love for nature, and get involved in community projects to develop responsibility and civic pride.

Starting back up in September, the program runs Monday to Friday throughout the school year.

Join Heather Outdoors This Summer for a Powerful Hybrid Workout! 

Get ready to move, sweat, and feel amazing with a strength and conditioning class that blends aerobic exercises, plyometrics, circuit training, and yoga.
This energizing outdoor session will help you build full-body strength, improve posture and flexibility, boost endurance, and reduce stress.

Start your engines! Young mechanical engineers will build a vehicle frame and experiment with adding different sources of power. How much wind can you catch if you add a sail to your car? How much speed can rubber band create? Can you construct a simple circuit to give your vehicle battery power? Find out at our Powered Vehicles workshop!

This hands-on activity encourages artistic expression and exploring imagination using a variety of safe, hands-on materials to create unique art projects. All materials are provided, and each child will take home their completed craft. This week's craft : Decorating Pencil Cases!

We recommend bringing a snack, water bottle, and sunhat, as well as wearing running shoes for games afterwards!

In an open outdoor space, children will use their imaginations and play with loose parts! Loose parts include: tarps, bungee cords, tires, milk crates, cardboard packaging and more! This type of play is UNSTRUCTURED and RISKY!

Risky play is about discovery and finding out what we are capable of. It shapes us in unexpected ways. We often assume risk is negative but, it does not have to be!  As they begin to play, children are remarkably quite good at mitigating their own risk. They come up with their own rules, negotiate, collaborate and cooperate with other children. Children will have the opportunity to make creative decisions, test their boundaries and limits and learn skills to take into adolescence and adulthood.

What to Expect:

• Knight Training & Royal Quests: Race through obstacle courses, defend the castle, and complete heroic challenges to earn your knighthood!
• Castle Creations: Build and decorate your own castle towers, design shields and crowns, and craft dragons to guard your kingdom.

It’s a week packed with discovery, creativity, and imagination across time.

What to Expect:

• Dino Discoveries: Dinosaur themed artwork and learning about the giants that once ruled the Earth.
• Ancient Egypt & Greece: Papyrus paper making, Greek language scavenger hunt, and other fun activities!
• Futuristic Fun: Drone delivery relay race, laser maze, and make your own time capsule!

Step into the time machine and experience the past, present, and future like never before at Time Travellers Camp—where every day is a new adventure through time!

Wear runners, a hat, sunscreen and bring along a bagged lunch and LOTS of water! 

This program will run rain or shine!

The $5.00 registration fee includes a bag of chips and a freezie!
