The Bird Watching Backpack Loan Program gives community members free access to ready-to-use birding kits they can borrow, just like a library book. Each backpack includes binoculars, a local trail map, and basic bird identification tools to help beginners and enthusiasts explore local parks and natural areas. This program promotes outdoor learning, wildlife appreciation, a hands-on environmental education, by making bird watching accessible.
Program is available to residents of the RM of Headingley and the RM of Macdonald only.

Pickup from MHRD office at 179 Seekings Street, Headingley MB (located next door to the Phoenix Community Centre, opposite side of parking lot)
