Keep active in the snow this Winter by using Urban Poles, or take a break from the cold while still getting in those steps! This group will meet once per week this Winter and have the option of walking outdoors or indoors.
Indoor Walking: In the Headingley Community Centre auditorium, walking shoes must be non-marking indoor only shoes. Walkers or any walking aids must be clean. Urban Walking Poles are available for people walking indoors. You are encouraged to bring your own if you have a set.
Outdoor Walking: Group will start at the Headingley Community Centre and enjoy a stroll around the neighbourhood. Please wear shoes or boots with traction, and warm gear. Urban Poles are available to borrow for the walk. You are encouraged to bring your own if you have a set.
There are many benefits to using Urban Poles, including: balance (always have two points of contact which decreases chances of falling), pain relief (poles let you offload weight from hips and knees), core strengthening, posture (strengthen your arms and back) and cardio fitness (energizing activity)! Have a try at this walking club!
Please consult a Health Care Professional before starting any new exercise program to help decide if it's right for you.
