The Macdonald Public Recreation Commission is inviting all visual artists to participate in an Art Competition. The competition will celebrate and recognize local artists, while providing a a unique recognition to volunteers within the R.M. of Macdonald. The winning artwork will be purchased from the artist and displayed in the R.M. of Macdonald Municipal office. Reproductions of the winning piece will provide a commemorative piece of artwork for future recipients of the Macdonald Volunteer Service Awards.

Submission Guidelines

• Submissions entered must be original (no previously copyrighted materials, patterns or kits)
• The artwork must be available for purchase by the R.M.
• Artwork cannot be any larger than 10 in. x 14 in.
• Three pieces may be entered by one artist.
• Each entry must have a completed label attached with a dollar value given.
• Artwork must be ready for display/hanging.
• Photos of artwork may be taken by the committee for publicity or promotion purposes.
• The contest is open to all artists age 18 & older.
• Eligible media include: acrylics, oil, watercolors, pastels or drawings.

Theme
The theme for the competition is "Life in the R.M. of Macdonald." Examples of this include sporting and/or special events, landmarks, kids, schools, pioneer times etc.

Registration & Deadline
Artists are asked to deliver their art to the R.M. of Macdonald Municipal office no later than Friday, January 14th, 2011. A brief biography must accompany your entry form. Please be sure that your name and the title of your artwork are marked on any packaging you use on your piece. The necessary forms are available for download below.

Judging
The winning artwork will be selected by a panel of judges and the artist will be notified.
